The Free Library of Philadelphia received the set of 50 translated books of modern Japanese fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels thanks to a grant from Toyota Motor Corporation to the American Library Association.

The translated work of award winning authors (through Vertical Publishing) provide a great sampling of popular works from Japan in many genre- fiction, fantasy, mystery, horror, historical, Manga, etc.

Here is the link to the list of books included in the set, with a short author biography and summary: http://www.ala.org/ala/aboutala/offices/iro/iroactivities/japanesebookdonation.cfm

Got any plans tomorrow night? Well now you do—it’s your last chance to participate in the 2009 One Film program! This year, One Film featured Julian Schnabel’s Basquiat, and organizations throughout the region hosted screenings, discussions, performances, and dinners, all with the goal of promoting film literacy in our city. The 2009 program, which began on February 18, attracted double the amount of community members from last year's inaugural program!

Which events did you attend this year? What did you think of Basquiat? Share your opinions with us in the feedback section, and be sure to click on the links below for more information on our closing day events.

Dinner and a Movie: Basquiat

The Agony and the Ecstasy: Basquiat as Artist
