In keeping with the spirit of our The Year of The Bard celebration, we've published a new online exhibition and accompanying timeline to our website celebrating 450 years' worth of Shakespearean delight!

The online exhibition is broken up into a number of sections, starting with Shakespeare's birth and childhood in Stratford-upon-Avon. Next the exhibition takes you on a tour of The Globe Theatre, which was the home base for The Shakespeare Company and where some of Shakespeare's greatest plays were originally performed. The most expansive part of the exhibition--the plays themselves--include entire sections devoted to As You Like It, Hamlet, Henry V, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Midsummer Night's Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, Othello, Richard III, Romeo and Juliet, Taming of The Shrew, and Twelfth Night; all with annotated scene summaries, film adaptations with links to online video excerpts, as well as links to all the corresponding Shakespearean books, ebooks, audiobooks, and DVDs available to checkout in our catalog.

On the interactive timeline, you can scroll or swipe your way through hundreds of years of Shakespearean history, including other noteworthy people, places, and events from The Bard's lifetime and beyond such as period-specific fashion trends and the exploits of Queen Elizabeth to modern interpretations of The Bard's work on the stage and screen and rare images from our Print and Picture Collection.

Once you're finished checking out the exhibition and timeline, don't forget to view all Shakespeare-centric programs and events we have planned throughout the rest of this year!

Feel free to share this blog post and spread the word about The Year of The Bard via social media, for as Shakespeare himself might have said, #allswellthattrendswell.
