Some things we can do to help reduce the holds list wait for others who are behind us on the list:
1. If you finish the book before the 3 weeks are up (or the 1 week in Chester County or the 2 weeks in Montgomery, Bucks, or Delaware County), return it early. This will also allow you to check out another ebook if you've reached the limit.
2. If you no longer need an ebook on which you have a hold, remove your name from the holds list for it. For example, you may have had your name on the holds list for both the ebook and "real book" versions of a title, and your name came up first for the "real book". (And if the reverse happens, cancel your hold on the "real book" to make the waiting list for that one go faster.)
3. When you get the email saying that the book is ready for you to download, even though you have 72 hours (96 in Bucks County) to get it, try to get it as soon as possible so that your checkout time ends sooner, and thus another person can get it that much faster. However, I realize that this may not always be convenient, depending on your device and Internet connection. Plus I realize that you may not have the opportunity to start it yet, and those 72 hours gives you time to prepare to give your full attention to the downloaded ebook. I know that I have been guilty of doing this.
