"This building remained standing until the early 1960s, when it was known as the John Bartram Hotel. Beside it on the south side is the Broad Street Theatre, with Lillian Russell's name in lights, and next to the right is the Hotel Stenton. At present these lots are vacant and used for parking. The view is from the roof of the Hotel Windemere, a residential hotel where the famous artist Joseph Pennell once lived."--OPEP, p. 180.
The hotel on the corner. On its right, Hotel Metropole, Broad Street Theatre announcing Lillian Russell in lights, and Hotel Stenton. Trolley tracks and horse-drawn carriage on street. People on sidewalk, in front of hotel and theater.
