Diesen beyden Ehegatten als Frantz Portz= \ line und seine Eheliche Hausfrau Sabina eine geborne \ Heigelin ist ein Sohn zur Welt Geboren als Abraham Portzli= \ ne ist zur Welt Gebohren im Jahr unsers Herrn Jesu 1817 den 28ten \ February um 8 uhr abends im zeigen des Löwen und von Herrn \ Schmit Prediger der Lutherischen Gemeine Getauft und ge= \ nennet wie oben Gemeldet. Ich bin getauft, ich steh’ im bunde, \ durch meine Tauf, mit meinem Gott. \ So sprech’ ich stets mit frohem munde, \ ich bin getauft, des freue ich mich, \ die freude bleibet mir Ewiglich.
Translation:
To these tow married people, namely Frantz Portzline and his lawful wife Sabina, a born Heigelin, a son was born into the world, named Abraham Portzline was born into the world in the year of our Lord Jesus 1817 the 28th February at 8 o’clock in the evening, in the sign of Leo, and Mister Schmit, preacher in the Lutheran congregation, baptized and named her as mentioned above. Sponsors are Jacob Keyser and his wife. Above mentioned was born in the state of Pennsylvania, Union County, Chapman Township. I am baptized, and when I die, how can the cool grave hurt me? I know my fatherland and legacy that I will have with God in Heaven. After death, Heaven’s joy, the garment of celebration, is prepared for me. To God alone be glory.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The central text in Fraktur and German script is within large heart in the center of the document. Additional verse as well as three rosettes are below the heart. The heart is flanked by two undulating flowering branches on which are perched six birds. At the top center is a rosette. Several calligraphic scrolls or knots are on the certificate.
