This incredibly humorous version of Pride and Prejudice was directed by Robert Z. Leonard with the screenplay written by Aldous Huxley and Jane Murfin. The main characters of the book, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett, were perfectly performed by Sir Lawrence Olivier and Greer Garson.
Although this version has a lighter touch and does not follow the book closely, it has great heart!

This photograph is taken from the proposal scene of Pride and Prejudice, which was part of "England: Puritan Versus Cavalier", a presentation of "World Theatre". The program, starring Sir Ralph Richardson, traced the age-old battle between the gay romantic Englishman and his sterner brother.

This miniseries was directed by Cyril Coke, and the adaptation to film was written by Fay Weldon. For the starring roles, Elizabeth Garvie played Elizabeth Bennet and David Rintoul played Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.
Directed by Simon Langton and the screenplay written by Andrew Davies. The film version follows the book very closely and is wonderfully cast. Lead roles of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet are performed by Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.

Director Gurinder Chadha is best known for "Bend it Like Beckham" and" Paris, je t'aime".
Directed by Joe Wright with the screenplay written by Deborah Moggach, this adaptation starring Keira Knightley may be the most commercial version available.
