Old Plough Tavern, 2nd Street at Pine, 1882
"The Old Plough Tavern faced on 2nd Street, and through the archway, in this photograph, can be seen the columns of the old 2nd Street market shed. The rear court shown here is reminiscent of old-world innyards. On the right are the stables and through the door beside the archway are the public rooms where a good pint of ale was drunk by many a visiting farmer."--OPEP, p. 47.
View of the tavern's back court. Facing the photographer, a man sweeps the ground, another man stands at second story window.
