Here Shakespeare Was Born

Here Shakespeare Was Born

This half-timbered house on Henly Street is the birthplace of William Shakespeare, born in April 1564. His mother was Mary Arden, a daughter of a yeoman farmer of Wilmcote, and his father was John Shakespeare, a glover and wool dealer of good standing who held the office of Bailiff of the Borough in 1568.
