We ship all packages by UPS Ground unless requested otherwise. UPS or other carrier rates apply for all modes of shipment, both national and international, and will be included on your invoice. The borrower is responsible for the music from receipt of delivery until its return to the Collection; therefore, please insure all return shipments for the amount suggested on the invoice. The borrower should check all music upon receipt and notify us immediately if anything is missing; otherwise, the shipment will be considered to be correct.

2.  Who can borrow music from the Fleisher Orchestral Collection?

The Fleisher Collection lends to orchestras, universities, schools, churches...any organization interested in the performance of orchestral music. We do not lend to individuals; an institution must be the borrower of record.

3.  Is there a fee to borrow music from the Fleisher Collection?

There is a handling charge for any organization outside of the City of Philadelphia. The charge is based on the size of the work, and runs from a low of $25 per work. Most works are in the $25 to $100 range, although some are higher. Philadelphia organizations may borrow music for free for up to eight weeks.

In addition, shipping charges by UPS Ground service are about $6 anywhere in the continental U.S. International and express shipping options are also available; these charges are calculated individually. Late fees are levied for music returned after the due date. There is a non-negotiable $20 per part replacement fee.

4.  How long can we keep the music borrowed from the Fleisher Collection?
The maximum normal lending period is eight weeks, with additional time for shipping added onto that. If available, the works can be reserved for a longer time period, at a prorated charge.
5.  Are there any other charges to borrow music from the Fleisher Collection?

Shipping charges by UPS Ground service are about $6 anywhere in the continental U.S. International and express shipping options are also available; these charges are calculated individually. Late fees are levied for music returned after the due date. There is a non-negotiable $20 per part replacement fee.

6.  What about copyright?

Usually the music the Fleisher Collection lends out is in the public domain. For works under copyright, we will refer you to the rental publisher or agent if there is one. For unpublished works, we need to receive permission from the copyright holder to release the performance materials. (We may already have this permission on file, so do check with us first.) Call us at 215-686-5313 or email us at fleisher@freelibrary.org to ask about any particular piece; we'll work with you on tracking down the information you need to get the music into your hands.

7.  Do you have a catalog?

All of our collection--more than 21,000-titles--is now online as part of the Free Library's catalog. You can limit searches to find just Fleisher titles; check out the search tips below. Our 1977 catalog, hailed for its comprehensiveness and depth of information, is now out of print, although it is a standard reference source in many libraries and universities. All of its information, and much, much more, is in the online catalog. Contact us at 215-686-5313 or fleisher@freelibrary.org with any questions about searching our holdings.
