A note on the inside of the back cover in Sydney Cockerell's hand, dated April 1926, states: "When I bought this book the two final leaves were missing. They have now been supplied by Graily Hewitt," signed S.C.C.
Carmen seculare (Modern addition)
The complete text of this work by Horace was either not included when the original manuscript was first produced or it was removed at a later date. Emulating the style of Humanistic script, a modern scribe Graily Hewitt added the text in 1924 at the request of Sydney Cockerell, a collector and one of the great historians of medieval manuscripts. Cockerell owned the manuscript before it came to the Free Library.
