Notes:

Calendar page for January

This calendar contained the feasts days celebrated in the month of February. Calendars are typically illustrated with the labors of the month and the zodiac signs. Miniatures in the lower margin show the labor for January, a man warming himself by the fire, and the zodiac sign for Aquarius. These vignettes were painted by a follower of the Egerton Master, an artist active in Paris in the early fifteenth century. The folios of the calendar are decorated with sunbursts and the initials "KS". The device and initials may refer to King Charles VI of France.

This manuscript has been dated to ca. 1405. The scribe Johannes Parvus signed his name on f. 206v.
