Jaime and Gilbert Hernandez | Love and Rockets: Thirtieth Anniversary Tour Recorded 9/19/2012 Listen to MP3 audio
Co-creators of the comic art series Love and Rockets, Jaime and Gilbert Hernandez have been likened in the Times of London and elsewhere as “the graphic equivalent to the fabulism of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the Nobel laureate.” A decades-spanning oeuvre, Love and Rockets virtually defined the subversive alt-comic voice of the 1980s and has won a string of Harvey and Kirby Awards. The pair has also collaborated with their brother, Mario Hernandez, in addition to releasing several solo projects. Jaime’s comics include Locas, Penny Century, and Whoa, Nellie!, and Gilbert’s work includes New Love, Luba, New Tales of Old Palomar, and the graphic novel The Troublemakers. In 2009, the Hernandez brothers were named in Time’s "Top 100 Next Wave Storytellers," and they continue to release new work more than 30 years after the original publication of their influential series.
